History Meets the Future: PEVIC SC Faces Nyakabanda HC, Rwanda’s Oldest Handball Club Match Written by PEVIC SC Communication 25 Oct 2026

This morning at 09:00, PEVIC SC, the newest club in Rwandan handball, takes on Nyakabanda HC, the oldest club in the country’s handball history, at the NPC Gymnasium in Remera.

Some fixtures are about more than points. This morning’s Round 1, Day 2 match in the D1 Men’s Handball National League 2026/27 brings together two clubs at opposite ends of Rwandan handball’s story.

Nyakabanda HC was founded in 1985 and is the oldest club in the history of Rwandan handball. For four decades it has helped build the sport in this country, developing players and coaches and setting the standard for those who followed. Its crest carries a motto that sums up the spirit of the game: One for all, all for one.

PEVIC SC was founded in 2026 and is playing its debut season. The club was built to bring a new standard of professionalism, talent development and community spirit to Rwandan sport, guided by five values: Performance, Excellence, Victory, Integrity and Courage.

41 years apart, one court

When the two teams step onto the court in Remera, 41 years of history will separate them. For PEVIC SC, it is a chance to measure itself against one of the clubs that shaped Rwandan handball. For Nyakabanda HC, it is a chance to show that experience still counts.

Whatever the result, the meeting says something positive about the sport. The game’s oldest club is still competing, and new clubs are still joining the league.

PEVIC SC has great respect for what Nyakabanda HC has given Rwandan handball. Today the two teams meet as competitors, and we look forward to a fair, hard-fought game.
