Every club has a first day. But the real story of PEVIC SC begins earlier — in a shared belief that Rwandan sport deserves institutions built to last, not just teams built to win.

Every club has a first day — a moment before the teams, the matches, and the badge, when it was still only an idea shared among a few people who refused to let it go. This is the story of how PEVIC Sport Club began.

An idea before a team

PEVIC Sport Club did not begin on a court. It began in conversation. In June 2026, a small group of  founders came together around a simple conviction: that a sports club could be more than a place to play — it could be a place to belong, and a project built to last.

They were not chasing a quick win. From the very first discussions, they imagined something patient and enduring — a club that would still matter years after its first match.

A name that carries a promise

Long before its first game, the club had its values — and it wrote them into its own name. PEVIC SC is not only a name; it is a set of standards, spelled out letter by letter:

• P — Performance
• E — Excellence
• V — Victory
• I — Integrity
• C — Courage

And beneath the name sits the motto the founders chose to live by: discipline, community, and ambition. Together, they describe not only what the club wants to achieve, but how it intends to achieve it — performing with excellence, aiming for victory, grounded in integrity, and carried by courage.

More than a team — a home

The founders never set out to build only a team. They set out to build an institution: a home for players, a source of pride for its community, and an organisation designed to stand on its own feet and give back to the people around it. That ambition — to be self-sustaining, and to serve rather than simply compete — has shaped every decision since.

Handball first, a longer road ahead

PEVIC chose to begin with handball — a sport of courage, speed, and complete trust between teammates, and a fitting foundation for the club's values. But the vision has always reached further. In the years ahead, PEVIC plans to grow step by step: women's teams, youth academies, and, in time, other sports — each built on the foundation laid at the very start.

The first milestone

On 25 July 2026, the idea that once lived only in conversation reached its first official milestone. The FERWAHAND General Assembly voted — unanimously — to admit PEVIC SC as a member of the Rwanda Handball Federation. For the first time, PEVIC had a recognised place in Rwanda's handball family.

It was not the end of the founding story. It was proof that it had been worth starting.

The journey continues

PEVIC Sport Club is still young, and the best of its story is still ahead. But every chapter to come will rest on the same conviction that started it all: that with discipline, community, and ambition, a club can become far more than a team.
